This episode was recorded from a remote cabin after we returned from a night sleeping in the wilderness.
We discuss our adventure along with a whole bunch of hiking news. If you're interested in goats stalking hikers, Grizzly Bears trying to snack on hikers, fungi being fungi, extremely long hiking trails and loads more, then you'll probably be pretty happy with this episode.
Enjoy and thanks for listening!

Shawn Peach's filming assignments have taken him all over the world. As a result he has an endless list of interesting and amazing stories.
He has lived with reindeer herders in Mongolia, crossed the Simpson Desert and hung off the side of too many 4x4s to count, all in the name of capturing the perfect shot and telling the story.

When Nick Monaghan enters the Australian wilderness, he moves at a different pace to what you and I would. Hiking to him is not about the destination, the distance or vast mountain ranges. It's about discovery in a much smaller world.
Nick is a macro-photographer of insects, focused more on what's hiding behind a leaf or within the bark of a tree and it's surprising what he can reveal from within a relatively small area of bushland or rainforest.
Nick has had his work published in several books and papers and in this episode we're lucky enough to have him join us and reveal all the secrets and rewards of his work in the tiny world of insects.

Paul Barach is able to undertake (and complete) enormous tasks including writing his own book (Fighting Monks and Burning Mountains: Misadventures on a Buddhist Pilgrimage), hiking the PCT and cycling across the United States.
The list of Paul's amazing mental and physical feats is long but probably the most unusual to the general hiking community is his completion of the entire 1,200 kilometres (750 mi) journey of the Shikoku Pilgrimage in Japan.
Paul reveals to us his passions, what motivates him to start such challenging adventures and his approach to completing them. As with any big adventure, Paul's journeys do not always go smoothly and in this podcast format we were able to explore those in detail with him.

Ross McGibbon is without a doubt the most qualified guy I can think of to photograph dangerous and deadly snakes. Yes, he knows his way around a camera, but it's his previous experience as a snake catcher and his love for this reptile that makes him the perfect candidate.
In this episode, Ross expresses his appreciation and fascination for snakes and other reptiles. It's hard to talk to him and not take some of that enthusiasm onboard, but on top of that, he removes a lot of false fears associated with snakes and their behaviours and exposes them for the beautiful reptiles that they are.
If you can't stand snakes, you need to listen to this episode and if you love snakes, well this one's for you.

Chase Tucker loves preparing climbers and hikers for the mountains. As soon as you begin talking to him it's quite obvious. He also has an extensive knowledge of the kind of mobility required to tackle the kind of terrain you find in the wilderness. He's a mountain training specialist but as we found out, there's a lot more layers to Chase than a stereotypical fitness trainer. We get pretty deep on a whole bunch of topics from Wim Hof breathing to dopamine fasting and even journal writing.
It was a very enjoyable podcast to present and we were privileged to share so much time with him. If you want to connect both your mental and physical attributes to better conquer the mountains, then this may just be the episode for you.
